Gibson Les Paul Bass
The first Gibson Les Paul bass appeared in 1970.
Like the Les Paul “Personal” 6-string guitar that debuted the previous year, it utilized low impedance circuitry, which offered greatly reduced background noise and an extended frequency response. Gibson’s LP bass had “crisp, clear tones [that would] exceed [those] of any electric bass on the market to date.”
These models enjoyed only limited success although both remained in the catalog until the 1990s. There were no more Les Paul basses until the 1990s.
This Les Paul Bass was decribed as combining “a classic look and solid performance with basic functionality”. This finish is “Ebony”, but it is also available in “Classic White”.
