Gibson Les Paul, 2002
The proliferation of Les Pauls in the current Gibson catalog provides a vast range of choices for players, whether their preference is for vintage-style models, or for striking new versions of the classic solid-body.
The instrument shown here falls into the latter category. A Les Paul Mahogany, dating from 2002, it lacks the maple top found on earlier Standards, and also departs from tradition by having three pickups instead of two.
Standard Mahogany guitars of this type are no longer produced by Gibson, and are something of a rarity.
This model has a “Heritage Cherry” finish is used for the Heritage Special’s carved top and body.
