Taylor T-5 Standard
The T-5, which made it’s debut in 2005, is Taylor’s first-ever electric guitar.
Aimed at players seeking to obtain both clear, acoustic-sounding tones and “hotter”, overdriven timbres from a single instrument. It contains three transducers, and an active pre-amp system that gives precise control over the sounds they provide.
Standard T-5s, like this one, have chrome fittings and dot inlays. “Artist” versions feature gold-plated hardware and more intricate fret-markers.
Both models are offered with Sitka spruce, koa, or (as shown here) maple tops. Sapele wood is used for the backs and sides of all versions of the instrument. The necks of the T-5s are constructed from tropical American mahogany.
