Watkins Circuit 4
Londoner Charlie Watkins developed a range of instrument amplifiers and P.A. systems in the years following WWII. These were marketed under the WEM (Watkins Electric Music) marque. By the end of the 1950s, Watkins had diversified into electric guitar manufacturing.
These were largely the work of Charlie’s brother Reg. While influenced by the work of Leo Fender, they sometimes featured a bewildering proliferation of electronic gadgetry. But many of their products were competitively priced and highly successful, especially among “entry-level” players.
This Watkins Circut 4 dates from 1964. It is an attractive period piece, whose good condition and comparable rarity make it highly collectable.
