In 1933, after Dobro and National merged together, the two companies began cross-pollenating the lines, first with woodbody National models, then a year later with a trio of metalbody guitars with the Dobro style resonator.

The fanciest of the three, the Artist model (aka Model 16) featured engraving on the body and a bound fingerboard.
