Martin Alternative XT
Martin introduced the first-ever instrument in it’s “Alternative” range, the 00-size “X” model, in 2001.
The capitalization of the L in it’s name is deliberate; AL is the scientific symbol for aluminum, which is used for the tops of the instruments in this series. Thanks to it’s exceptional strength, it requires much less internal bracing than a conventional wooden top. The X model has a clear, responsive tone, both when played acoustically, and when the guitars’ built-in electronics are plugged in.
The Alternative XT featured here debuted in 2002. Constructed similarly to other models in the series, it’s most striking features are a Bigsby vibrato, a DiMarzio Fast Track 2 pickup, and a “graffiti pattern” on the aluminum.
