Danelectro U2

This model offered 1950s guitarists an electric guitar in its simplest, most basic form and, when it found its way into the Sears Roebuck catalog, it became the starter guitar for a generation of budding American rockers.

The U1 (single pickup) and U2 (double pickup) were successful enough, but when Daniel installed a small amplifier in a guitar case and Sears offered the guitar and case as a set, they proved to be an irresistibly cheap way for parents to get their kids started on the rock’n’roll path.
