After studying guitar with Rev Gary Davis and learning guitar making from Michael Gurian, Michael Milliard established Froggy Bottom Guitars as a custom shop in Newfane, Vermont, in 1970.

His philosophy was to build each guitar to an individual player’s personal perferences, but as his clientele and his reputation grew, some of the favorite styles emerged as a standardized line.

By the mid 1980s, the 15-inch wide Froggy Bottom H-12 model, inspired by Martin’s 12-fret 000-size, had become Milliard’s most popular model. This Deluxe version features an abalone soundhole ring and gold-plated tuners while the Standard has a herringbone ring and nickel-plated tuners.

The highest grade, Limited, sports intricate fingerboard inlays and a paua abalone top border.
