Burns Hank Marvin

In 1964, Hank Marvin teamed up with leadig British guitarmaker, Jim Burns, to create the Burns Hank Marvin model.

Prior to his association with Burns, Marvin was “joined at the hip” with his 1959 Fender Stratocaster with Fiesta Red finish – believed to have been the first Stratocaster in England – and it became the starting point for Marvin’s signature model.

The double-cutaway body and three-coil pickups are basic Strat features, but the double-bar handrest, the three-piece pickguard, and the peghead scroll are distinctive Burns touches.

Only a year after Burns London introduced the model, Burns sold his company to the Bladwin Piano & Organ Co. As Marvin was still virtually unknown in the U.S., Baldwin did not continue the model after aquiring the company.

However, a new Burns London company brought the Marvin model back in limited production in 2004.
