Framus Melodie 9 String

The inspiration for this nine-string Melodie model of 1965 is unknown. It would appear to be simply halfway between a six- and 12-string, but it has its own distinct personality.

The three treble strings, which handle most of the melodic work, are doubled for extra strength, while the three bass strings are singles. The result is a more powerful guitar but without the heavy octave-doubling of a 12-string.

Framus made only an estimated 50 nine-string electrics in the mid 1960s.
