Framus used the Strato name on numerous models, and the Strato Deluxe (model 5/168) did have three single-coil pickups like a Fender Stratocaster, but most of the Strato Deluxe’s features came from a different Fender model: the Jazzmaster.

The body is almost an exact copy, and with circuitry overload from five knobs and six switches, plus a mute, a vibrato, and six-on-a-side tuner configuration, the Jazzmaster influence is unmistakable.

The Deluxe from 1965 goes a step beyond the Jazzmaster, and all other guitars the major manufacturers in the mid 1960s, with it’s onboard Organtone effect. The player could hook his pinkie finger into the curved switch handle and engage a spring-loaded volume control to create an effect similar to that of the rotating horn of a Leslie organ amplifier.
