Gibson BluesHawk
Gibson’s “Hawk” series of electric guitars was born in 1993, when the solid-body, single cutaway NightHawk made it’s debut.
It attracted a considerable following (high-profile users included Joe Walsh of The Eagles), and three years later, the BluesHawk augmented the range. This was thinline, hollow-body design fitted with two Gibson “Blues 90” pickups. These incorporated a dummy coil to reduce noise and interference, and produced an impressive range of sounds, especially when used in conjunction with the NightHawk’s Varitone tone selector. After being switched into circuit by pulling up the tone control, this could then be adjusted, via a rotary knob below the pickup selector.
