Gibson SG Supreme

Gibson launched the SG Supreme in early 1999. A press release described it as “a direct descendant of [Gibson’s] original solid guitar, the Les Paul”.

With it’s maple-topped mahogany body, the instrument is certainly an elegant and fascinating hybrid. It is also every bit as capable as it’s predecessors when it comes to delivering what Gibson describes as the instrument’s “bad boy sound”. This has been loved by several generations of rockers, including stars as diverse as Pete Townshen of The Who, Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath, Angus Young of AC/DC, and the late Frank Zappa.

The SG is currently available in four different colors: “Lavaburst”, “Emeraldburst”, “Midnightburst”, and “Trans Black”. The Supreme here is finished in “Fireburst” (a color no longer offered on this model) and has a gold-plated bridge and tailpiece.
