G&L ASAT Deluxe
Leo Fender worked at G&L for 11 years, until his death in 1991. Company ownership has since passed to BBE Sound. But, as one commentator put it, “G&L has perpetuated the art of fine instrument making…in the distinguished tradition of it’s founder”.
Among the company’s most successful guitars are the ASATs, originally introduced in 1986. Their curious name is said to refer to a chance remark from Leo Fender himself, that the instrument was conceived as “a Strat and a Tele”.
This particular one is a Deluxe Semi-Hollow with a maple finish and two Seymour Duncan humbucking pickups, which can be coil-tapped.
