Gretsch Elliot Easton Duo Jet

The 6128 Gretsch Duo Jet debuted in 1953.

Though nominally a solid, it concealed a substancial degree of chambering beneath it’s mahogany top. This design quirk was discontinued in 1970, when the guitar became a true solid.

It was acclaimed by Gretsch as having “solid tone projection, wonderful sustain, [and an] infinite variety of tonal coloring”. The guitar’s association with Beatle George Harrison ensured it’s survival until the early 70’s. Gretsch itself was shut down in 1980, but re-emerged in 1989.

Eleven years later, a Signature Jet model, endorsed by former Cars and Creedence Clearwater Revisited guitarist Elliot Easton, was announced. It has a slightly longer scale and “Filter’Tron” pickups.
