Harmony H22 Bass

Harmony’s H22 “Hi-Value” electric bass is often referred to as a “Rocket” bass, perhaps it sometimes shared a catalog page with the company’s Rocket 6-strings.

Introduced in 1961, it had a cutaway body, white pickguard, and a wooden finger rest (both of these have been removed from this example). It was fitted with a single pickup, designed, like those on the Rockets, in conjunction with DeArmond. The white switch above it’s volume control altered the tonal response of it’s electronics, giving a choice of “full bass” or “lighter baritone registers”.

It remained in production until 1968.

The H22 is especially associated with British musician Ronnie Lane of the British group the Small Faces.
