Martin 000-28LD Lonnie Donegan

Scotsman Lonnie Donegan (1931-2002) introduced audiences throughout the world to Skiffle, an exciting new genre, infused with elements of blues, folk, and country that swept Great Britain in the mid-1950s.

Skiffle music inspired both John Lennon and Paul McCartney of The Beatles to take up the guitar. In a career that spanned five decades, Donegan sold millions of records, and enjoyed massive success as a live performer.

Lonnie was a long-time devotee of Martin guitars, and in early 2002, the company announced plans to honor him by producing a limited edition series of acoustics based on his favorite Martin model, the 000-28 he had played since 1967. These were the 000-28LD and the 000-28LDB.

Each of the 72 limited edition 000-28LDs carries the signatures of Lonnie Donegan and Martin’s Chairman and CEO, Chris Martin IV.
