The SUB 1 was launched in January 2004; a mid-price, though very impressively specified guitar, it was the third instrument in the SUB series.

The range’s name is derived from the initials of Sterling Ball, the company’s president. It is a matter of intense pride within Music Man that the SUBs are built at the firm’s headquarters in San Luis Obispo, CA, rather than overseas. Music Man’s strategy is to use clever engineering and alternative materials to overcome the cost of domestic production.

The SUB 1 is available in seven alternative textured colors, and with single or dual humbucking pickups.
