Ovation CSD225-BCB Doubleneck
Double-necked guitars have a long history: as early as 1902, the Martin company had produced a two-neck harp guitar, and by the 1930s, Gibson was making electric Hawaiian models with twin necks that could each be tuned differently.
Leo Fender took this concept even further, with his mid-1950s three- and four-necked Stringmaster Hawaiians. Ovation introduced this production-model Celebrity Deluxe Doubleneck.
Aware of the problems with size and weight that often dog the design of these particular guitars, the company devised a scaled-down walnut roundback body for it. It has a central cutaway, and has been fitted with a modified version of Ovation’s OP24+ preamp system. The top is laminated spruce. The two necks have rosewood fingerboards, and a 25 1/4-inch scale length.
