PRS SE Soapbar
PRS’s “SE” range is designed at it’s headquarters in Stevensville, MD, but manufactured in Korea. SE instruments, some of them variants of the company’s premium models, are exceptionally good value, and the Soapbar SE seen here is of particular interest because of the lengthy battles triggered by it’s “Singlecut” body shape.
The firm first used the Singlecut design, which boasts one cutaway instead of the two found on many other PRS instruments, in 2000. It’s introduction led to a lawsuit from Gibson, centering on it’s alleged similarity to the latter company’s classic Les Paul guitar body.
Aside from their body shapes, the old and new Soapbar SEs are very similar. Both feature twin “soapbar” pickups.
