Tacoma Chief
The Tacoma Chief is a single cutaway “mini-jumbo” with a solid Western cedar top, plus a back and sides of solid mahogany.
It delivers a powerful sound that belies it’s relatively small size. It’s bridge and 22-fret fingerboard are rosewood, it’s tuning machines chrome, and it’s bolted-on neck mahogany.
The standard version, seen here, has a natural finish and no on-board electronics. Other colors are available as optional extras, and the Chief can be supplied with three different pickup systems (by, respectively, L.R. Baggs, Fishman, and B-Band), at an additional cost of between $150 and $250.
The Tacoma “Wing” series also includes larger-bodied regular and baritone guitars and basses, as well as two mandolins.
